Live for today

I have stopped seeing phones without screen protectors on top. It’s really quite funny to see our obsession with those flimsy screen guards, even though phone manufacturers are putting highly durable glasses in their products.

The screen guard gets abused, gets dirty, gets cracked. But the original screen beneath is always painstakingly kept shining new.

And when the screen guard finaly cracks, we put on a new one and the same cycle repeats.

It is in fact eerily akin to sometimes being obsessed with the disillusioned hope of a shiny future, that we constantly make our present miserable like the screen guard. Day by day, year after year.

And then finally one day, it’s all over.

There is a saying: Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That is why it is called the present.
